Starkville, Miss. (Take 30) ---Many run for exercise, but this time was for a cause.  Runners came out Saturday morning to participate in the 35th annual frostbite half-marathon. The marathon hosted by Chic-Fil-A selects one charity every year that a large portion of the proceeds go to. This year Mississippi chapter of Alzheimer disease was chosen. Alzheimer Disease is a type of brain disorder that causes problems with memory, thinking, and behavior and occur mostly for people ages 60 and older.

“My mother died this past year from Alzheimer Disease and I’m running in her honor,” runner participant Cadence Williams said.

Runners ran the half marathon or the 5k marathon. This marathon helps promotes healthy behavior. The race starts and ends on Main Street in Starkville, MS where there is a post party with music, free food, and beverages for all participants.
