MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (Take 30 News)--- Peyton Kern is one of the many brides whose marital plans have been affected by the Coronavirus. Kern was forced to cancel her bridal shower when her job listed her hometown, and location of the bridal shower, as a high-risk area for COVID-19.
If Kern were to travel to a high-risk area, she would be forced to quarantine herself for 3 to 5 days before returning to work.
“I realized at work that Desoto County was on the caution area list…that’s when we decided we’re like ok we’ve got to cancel this,” Kern said.
Kern’s bridal shower was scheduled to be the weekend of March 28th. Her wedding date is less than one month away, on May 2nd.
She and her fiancé decided to limit the wedding guests to only immediate family members. The couple also moved their reception to August 2020 in hopes that the pandemic will be over and so that they can celebrate with the guests who will have to miss the wedding ceremony.
“I know it’s not what we pictured at all, but I know it’ll be perfect no matter what,” Kern said.
Although Kern was heartbroken to cancel her bridal shower, she did get a sweet surprise from her coworkers at Sherwin Williams.
“I had no clue that my work was throwing me a shower. It was so sweet of them. and I came in the door and it was all set up and they surprised me and had food and drinks and fake mimosas. They had a few little presents for me so that was fun at work,” Kern said.
Kern said the surprise was emotional for her and made her entire day.
“I was holding back tears like the entire time ‘cause I was so happy,” Kern said.
