MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (Take 30 News)---Mississippi State’s School of Architecture and the African American Studies program celebrated Black History Month with an exhibition of the work of the late Philip Freelon. Freelon founded “The Freelon Group” in Durham, North Carolina, in 1990 which eventually became one of the nation's largest African-American owned firms.

Assistant Professor Dr. Christopher Hunter spoke briefly about the exhibit.

"Today is a celebration of Philip Freelon, an African American architect, that influenced the profession mainly in the 1990s. Here our gallery here in the School of Architecture hosts a number of different types of features exhibits throughout the year. We felt that, given the recent passing of Mr. Freelon that his work should be celebrated,” Hunter said.

The gallery was available to all students and faculty until February 24, 2020 but is no longer available.
