MISSISSIPPI STATE, Miss. (Take 30 News) --- Due to the Corona Virus outbreak all Universities across the country were required to shut down any in person classes on campus. Three weeks prior to this a professor on Mississippi State’s campus cancelled class for two weeks because of the possibility of contagion from her husband who was traveling back from South Korea.
Students were required to submit assignments online for the two weeks that they were not present in class. Little did they know this would be a preview to what the rest of the semester would look like for their classes.
Kamryn Jordan, a sophomore student in the class explained how she felt about the professor not having class.
"I appreciate her cancelling class in order to keep the health and safety of the students even though it did push her off track and force us to have to do a couple more assignment before spring break," said Kamryn.
MSU policies was changing daily to follow CDC protocol as the outbreak progressed. MSU Chief Communication Officer Sib Salter explained that the professor took the correct necessary precautions.
“The staff member in question did the right thing. The returning spouse and the spouse who is here both of them will self-isolate for 14 days which that complies with CDC protocol that complies with state department of health protocol and because we've adopted those two standards, they comply with Mississippi State protocol," stated Salter.
Students will not be back in class for the remainder of the semester.
