PHILADELPHIA, MS (Take 30 News) --- The Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians are taking precautions for the safety of their members. An update from the Choctaw Health Center via social media, stated that Tuesday, April 28th, Two-hundred and seventy-one people have been tested for covid-19.
A total of ninety were found positive including the Tribal Chief Cyrus Ben.
"Just wanted to reach out to you and give you some information directly from me. This morning I received confirmation from the pending results of a COVID-19 test that I took on Thursday night. Unfortunate news is that I have tested positive for this virus," Ben said.
Ben extended the Shelter in Place Order until 8 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2020 as a precaution for the members. The MBCI Facebook page has a public service announcement to provide tips and information about the COVID-19, but also there is a step by step video of how to make a mask.
The restrictions of the Shelter in Place Order will take effect April 26, 2020.
